Can’t say that I have a long track record of following politics closely. Part of that’s just laziness. But, as I was commenting to someone today, following politics seems a bit like playing golf: if you don’t invest fully it’s a waste of time. I don’t golf, either.
As my thoughts on Christian worldview have developed, I find politics more compelling because I view government through my worldview. In that respect, this election has been the most interesting by far. I have to admit that I missed the boat on the Rick Warren interviews with Obama and McCain. I read the transcripts, but apparently not nearly close enough.
Since Bush rode the “religious right wing” to such advantage in the last two elections. Both Republicans and Democrats are jockeying hard for this voting block. Obama is showing himself to be very liberal; the more he says about what he believes, the more obvious this is. McCain isn’t classically orthodox in his beliefs either, he just doesn’t try to equivocate as much.
Since Sarah Palin’s nomination for the vice-president’s spot of the Republican ticket, there have been questions swirling about her denominational affiliation, her church of choice, and her beliefs. Newsweek has posted an article looking into the two churches Palin has attended in Anchorage, Alaska. Take it however you want. I wouldn’t pass judgement short of hearing Palin herself comment, but the article certainly was interesting.

Thanks for posting this Matt. I followed the links and found that the church (Wasilla Bible Church) Governor Palin and her family has been attending for six years now does expository style preaching. They are currently going through the gospel of Mark verse by verse. Very interesting.
